Subject-wise Structure of Prelims Course

The UPSC Prelims Course is organized in a structured, subject-wise manner to help build a strong foundation across all key areas. Each subject module has dedicated hours and focuses on the most relevant topics for Prelims. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Polity – 40 Hours: Comprehensive coverage of the Polity syllabus with simplified explanations of key constitutional concepts and articles. The focus is on clarity of fundamental concepts (e.g. rights, duties, federal structure) and understanding important provisions of the Constitution that are frequently tested.
  • Economics – 30 Hours: Concise coverage of core economic concepts (like GDP, inflation, monetary/fiscal policy) with practical applications. Includes dedicated sessions on Budget & Economic Survey to ensure you grasp the latest economic developments relevant for Prelims.
  • History – 70 Hours: Curated content aligned with UPSC trends, covering Ancient, Medieval, Modern, and Art & Culture without unnecessary details. The emphasis is on essential topics (e.g. freedom movement milestones, cultural heritage) to avoid overload while ensuring nothing important is left out.
  • Geography – 30 Hours: Simplified explanations of physical and human geography concepts, with an emphasis on application-based learning. Exclusive sessions are dedicated to mastering maps and locations (a key area for Prelims questions).
  • Environment – 15 Hours: Key environmental and ecology concepts are explained in simple terms. Focus is given to application-based understanding and linking topics with current environmental issues and international conventions (which frequently feature in questions).
  • Science & Technology – 20 Hours: Coverage of basic science (NCERT level) plus important recent scientific developments. The course addresses the rising weightage of Science & Tech in Prelims with a strategic approach – focusing on areas like space, defense, biotech, IT, etc., and related current affairs.
  • CSAT – 30 Hours: Dedicated CSAT classes covering all aspects of the Civil Services Aptitude Test. Lectures are prioritized according to changing exam trends (quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, comprehension) with the aim of ensuring every student can attain a comfortable 66+ score (33%) in Paper-II.
  • Current Affairs – 40 Hours: Comprehensive coverage of exam-relevant current events from the last 18 months. The approach is subject-wise integration – current affairs are linked with static subjects for a holistic understanding. This ensures you not only memorize facts but also understand context, which is crucial for Prelims.

Best Prelims Online Course

Opting for a Prelims online course offers several advantages in today’s digital age. Unlike traditional classroom coaching, an online course like PEP provides flexibility and convenience without compromising on quality:

  • Learn from Anywhere: You can study from any location – be it a big city or a remote town – since all you need is an internet connection. There’s no need to relocate to coaching hubs like Delhi; the classroom comes to you. This not only saves travel and living costs, but also keeps you in the comfort of your home environment.
  • Flexible Timing & Self-Paced Learning: Online courses often allow you to learn at your own pace. Lectures are usually recorded or made available if you miss them, meaning you can watch classes as per your schedule. PEP, for instance, releases video lectures at 7 AM, and you can choose when to view them. If you’re a working professional or a college student, this flexibility is invaluable – you might study early morning or late at night, whenever you are free. And if a concept doesn’t click the first time, you can replay the lecture – a luxury not possible in offline classes.
  • Access to Top Faculty & Resources: Online programs break geographical barriers. You gain access to some of the best faculty in the country, even if they are based elsewhere. The course materials – PDFs, notes, current affairs magazines, question banks – are readily available online, often updated in real-time. PEP provides lecture-wise notes and daily quizzes downloadable from the platform, so you build a personal library of resources without hunting for books.
  • Interactive & Supportive: A common myth is that online courses lack interaction. In reality, good online courses have robust support – doubt-clearing sessions via live chat, dedicated Telegram or forum groups for students, and prompt response from instructors. In PEP, for example, there’s a dedicated Telegram group for doubt resolution and faculty interaction, ensuring you’re never left hanging with questions. Some online platforms also conduct live strategy sessions or mentorship webinars, which create a sense of community among aspirants.
  • Cost-Effective & Time-Saving: Generally, online courses tend to be more affordable than physical coaching (no infrastructure costs). Plus, you save precious time – no commuting to coaching centers, which in cities can take hours daily. This extra time can go into self-study or revision, making your preparation more efficient.

Frequently Asked Questions

UPSC Prelims Crash Course 2026, or the Prelims Enrichment Program (PEP), is an all-inclusive course designed to help you clear the UPSC Prelims 2026 in one go. It includes around 300 hours of lectures covering the entire GS Paper I syllabus (History, Polity, Economy, Geography, Environment, Science, etc.) and CSAT Paper II.

The UPSC Prelims Crash Course 2026 (PEP) is completely online. This means you can attend all classes via the internet from anywhere in the country. The medium of instruction is bilingual (Hinglish) – predominantly English with about 30% Hindi for better explanation of concepts. This bilingual delivery ensures that Hindi-medium students can also comfortably follow along, while maintaining the richness of English terminology needed for UPSC.

Yes, absolutely. CSAT (Paper II) is given equal importance in this course. PEP offers complete coverage of the CSAT syllabus, including topics like quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, data interpretation, and comprehension, with dedicated classes and practice questions. The aim is to ensure you comfortably clear the CSAT qualifying paper, a part often underestimated by aspirants. As for current affairs, the course covers roughly the last 18 months of current events relevant to the exam.

The Prelims Test Series in this crash course includes a total of 36 tests. This breaks down into sectional tests (covering specific subjects to strengthen individual areas) and full-length mock tests (covering the entire GS Paper I syllabus in one go, as well as full-length CSAT tests).

The course is structured to run from November 17, 2025 (Batch start date) up to the Prelims 2026 exam date. The content is delivered in a planned schedule spread over these months. In terms of daily/weekly schedule: lectures are released regularly (at least two video lectures daily, typically posted at 7 AM each day as per the schedule).

The crash course is taught by Prepp IAS’s experienced faculty team. All instructors are subject experts who have significant experience in UPSC coaching and have themselves gone through the UPSC exam process. In fact, the course is designed and delivered by interview-appeared faculties who have collectively cleared UPSC Prelims more than 20 times. For example, mentors like Siddhartha Kumar (expert in Polity, Economy; appeared in UPSC Interview, cleared Prelims 4 times), Prashant Bhule (expert in History, Economy; 4 Mains, 2 Interviews, multiple Prelims clears), Sourabh Jain (expert in History, Polity; 2 Interviews) and others will be guiding you. Many of them have scored well above the Prelims cutoff in multiple attempts (some scoring 120+ or even 140+ in Prelims), which means they know the insider tips on handling Prelims. Their teaching approach is exam-oriented – focusing on conceptual clarity, interlinkages, and answer elimination techniques. Plus, these faculties have been mentors to thousands of aspirants and have played a role in the success stories of toppers, so you’ll be in very capable hands. Overall, you can trust that the people teaching you have been there, done that, and are committed to seeing you succeed.

A crash course can be highly beneficial for both first-time aspirants and those who have attempted UPSC before. If you are a beginner, this structured program gives you a clear roadmap and covers all subjects in a guided manner, which can be far more effective than self-study from scratch.
